Funding Opportunities

For Faculty:

American Honda Foundation

The American Honda Foundation engages in grant making that reflects the basic tenets, beliefs and philosophies of Honda companies, which are characterized by the following qualities: imaginative, creative, youthful, forward-thinking, scientific, humanistic and innovative. We support youth education with a specific focus on the STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) subjects in addition to the environment. This is a limited submission opportunity. Contact OSP if you intend to submit a proposal. See website for deadlines.

Research Experiences for Teachers (RET) in Engineering and Computer Science Supplements and Sites

(Sept 19) This program supports active long-term collaborative partnerships between K-12 Science, Technology, Engineering, Computer and Information Science, and Mathematics (STEM) in-service and pre-service teachers, full-time community college faculty, and university faculty and students to enhance the scientific disciplinary knowledge and capacity of the STEM teachers and/or community college faculty through participation in authentic summer research experiences with engineering and computer science faculty researchers. This is a limited submission opportunity. Contact OSP if you intend to submit a proposal.

Innovations in Graduate Education (IGE) Program

(Sept 27) IGE is designed to encourage the development and implementation of bold, new, and potentially transformative approaches to STEM graduate education training. The program seeks proposals that explore ways for graduate students in research-based master’s and doctoral degree programs to develop the skills, knowledge, and competencies needed to pursue a range of STEM careers. This is a limited submission opportunity. Contact OSP if you intend to submit a proposal.

Computing and Communication Foundations (CCF): Core Programs (NSF)

(Oct 02) CISEs Division of Computing and Communication Foundations (CCF) supports research and education projects that develop new knowledge in four core programs:

  • The Algorithmic Foundations (AF) program;
  • The Communications and Information Foundations (CIF) program;
  • The Foundations of Emerging Technologies (FET) program; and
  • The Software and Hardware Foundations (SHF) program.

Computer and Network Systems (CNS): Core Programs (NSF)

(Oct 02) CISE’s Division of Computer and Network Systems (CNS) supports research and education projects that take a system-oriented approach to the development of novel computing and networking technologies, or to the enhancement of existing systems in any of several dimensions, or that explore new ways to make use of existing technologies.

Modeling and Simulation to Optimize HIV Prevention Research (NIH, R01)

(LOI- Nov 13, Application due- Dec13) The purpose of this FOA is to support the development and validation of modeling and simulation methods and related tools to examine HIV transmission dynamics, make epidemic projections, and estimate the impact of HIV treatment and prevention. Major goals: (1) to support research that utilizes multiple HIV data sources to develop and validate modeling and simulation tools that can be used to examine HIV transmission dynamics and estimate the impact of HIV prevention interventions and combination strategies. (2) to develop a mechanism and platform for making these tools available to other investigators.

Office of Advanced Cyberinfrastructure (OAC): Research Core Program (NSF)

(Nov 15) The Office of Advanced Cyberinfrastructure (OAC) supports translational research and education activities in all aspects of advanced cyberinfrastructure (CI) that lead to deployable, scalable, and sustainable systems capable of transforming science and engineering research.

Energy, Power, Control, and Networks (NSF)

(Proposals accepted anytime) The EPCN Program supports innovative research in modeling, optimization, learning, adaptation, and control of networked multi-agent systems, higher-level decision making, and dynamic resource allocation, as well as risk management in the presence of uncertainty, sub-system failures, and stochastic disturbances.

Electronics, Photonics and Magnetic Devices (NSF)

(Proposals accepted anytime) The EPMD Program supports innovative research on novel devices based on the principles of electronics, optics and photonics, optoelectronics, magnetics, opto- and electromechanics, electromagnetics, and related physical phenomena.
