Cybersecurity Education and Training Assistance Program (CETAP): Expansion of a Portable Cybersecurity Education Teacher-Focused Model

(Aug 3) DHS, through CETAP, seeks to implement a Cyber-Integrated Curricular Model (CICM), which will accomplish the following five goals: (1) Expand awareness of national cybersecurity education and workforce issues. (2) Encourage entry into cybersecurity academic programs and careers through hands-on, engaging cybersecurity-integrated ready-to-use tools. (3) Provide a portable curricular model to aid in replication to all 50 States, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands. (4) Offer the means to measure the long-term effects of teacher training. (5) Develop and implement a comprehensive engagement strategy that enables DHS to reaching an increasing number of K-12 stakeholders.

FY2019 Office of Naval Research Young Investigator Program (DoD)

(Aug 31) ONR’s Young Investigator Program (YIP) seeks to identify and support academic scientists and engineers who are in their first or second full-time tenure-track or tenure-track-equivalent academic appointment, who have received their PhD or equivalent degree on or after 01 January 2011, and who show exceptional promise for doing creative research.

Sony research award program

(Sept 15) Faculty innovation award – up to $100K in funds to conduct cutting edge research in Sony’s general areas of interest. Focused research award – up to $150K in funds to conduct research in the areas of Sony’s immediate interest.

Advanced Wind R and D to Reduce Costs and Environmental Impacts (DoE)

(Sept 26) The Wind Energy Technologies Office (WETO) invests in early-stage applied energy science research, development, and validation activities. Topic Areas (1) Advancing Smart Curtailment Strategies (2) Advanced Component Research and Development (3) Development and Validation of Offshore Wind Monitoring and Mitigation Technologies 

Office of Advanced Cyberinfrastructure (OAC): Research Core Program (NSF)

(Nov 15) Seeks innovative proposals for translational research on the design, development, deployment, experimentation, and application of advanced research CI. OAC research investments are further characterized by one or more of the following key attributes: multi-disciplinary, extreme-scale, driven by science and engineering research, end-to-end, and deployable as robust research CI.

FY2019 VANNEVAR BUSH FACULTY FELLOWSHIP (DOD)

(Jan 18, 2019) Objectives: (1) Support unclassified basic scientific and engineering research that could be the foundation for future revolutionary new capabilities for DoD (2) Educate and train student and post-doctoral researchers for the defense workforce (3) Foster long-term relationships between university researchers and the DoD (4) Familiarize university researchers and their students with DoD’s current and projected future challenges (5) Increase the number of talented technical experts that DoD can call upon.
