Funding Opportunities

Summer Research Experiences for Students and Science Teachers

  • Jan 31, 2019 (NIH); this program is intended to introduce students and teachers to research in the Environmental Health Sciences (EHS) and provide them with hands-on research experience.

Environmental Research Apprenticeship Program for College and University Students

  • January 24, 2017(EPA); The goal of the program is to increase both the effectiveness and number of future environmental scientists and technicians by allowing trainees to collaborate with senior EPA-ORD scientists while working in a fully operational federal research laboratory.

NSF/Intel Partnership on Computer Assisted Programming for Heterogeneous Architectures (CAPA)

  • Dec 15 (NSF/INTEL); seeks research proposals that explore (1) programming abstractions and/or methodologies that separate performance-related aspects of program design from how they are implemented; (2) program synthesis and machine learning approaches for automatic software construction that are demonstrably correct; (3) advanced hardware-based cost models and abstractions to support multi-target code generation and performance predictability for specified heterogeneous hardware architectures; and (4) integration of research results into principled software development practices.

Campus as a Laboratory for Sustainability

  • Dec 31 (Syracuse University); seeks proposals from faculty and students for projects that can advance Syracuse University’s Climate Action Plan (CAP).

Non-construction approaches to reducing greenhouse gas emissions through energy efficient products and practices

  • Jan 5, 2017 (EPA); solicits proposals that advance the energy efficiency of products through product- specific technical research, test procedure development, and education that drives consumer adoption of efficient products and practices.

Training-based Workforce Development for Advanced Cyberinfrastructure (CyberTraining)

  • Jan 18, 2017 (NSF); seeks proposals in three domains Cyber Infrastructure professionals, Domain science and engineering and computational and Data science literacy.

Science of Learning

  • Jan 18, 2017 (NSF); The program will support research addressing learning in following domains: molecular/cellular mechanisms; brain systems; cognitive affective, and behavioral processes; and social/cultural influences.

Desalination and Water Purification Research Program Fiscal Year 2017 Lab and Research Scale

  • Jan 18, 2017 (DoI); Through DWPR, research sponsors partner with Reclamation to address a broad range of desalting and water purification needs. Reclamation is interested in research where the benefits are widespread but where private-sector entities are not able to make the full investment and assume all the risks. Reclamation is also interested in research that has a national significance – where the issues are of large-scale concern and the benefits accrue to a large sector of the public.

Algorithms in the Field

  • Jan 26, 2017 (NSF); seeks proposals from collaboration between two groups of researchers (i) theoretical computer science researchers and (ii) other computing and information researchers. Each proposal must have at least one co-PI interested in theoretical computer science and one interested in any of the other areas typically supported by CISE.

Creation of a Healthcare-Associated Infectious Disease Modeling Network to Improve Prevention Research and Healthcare Delivery

  •  Jan 31, 2017 (NIH); The purpose of this project is to support innovative transmission modeling research that will expand knowledge and develop tools to better understand the spread of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), particularly those that are resistant to antimicrobials.

National Robotics Initiative 2.0

  • Feb 2, 2017 (NSF); The program supports innovative approaches to establish and infuse robotics into educational curricula, advance the robotics workforce through education pathways, and explore the social, behavioral, and economic implications of our future with ubiquitous collaborative robots.

ISN-CTR Biosecurity Engagement Program

  • Feb 3, 2017 (DoS); solicits proposals in three domains: 1) biosecurity and biosafety 2) infectious disease detection and control and 3) scientific engagement to enhance global health security and foster safe, secure, and sustainable bioscience capacity

 ISN-CTR Chemical Security Program

  • Feb 3, 2017 (DoS); seeks proposals that make a clear and compelling case for how they will address a chemical threat, how they will support partner-specific political, technical, and/or logistical realities, and how to support one or more CSP goals.

ISN-CTR Partnership for Nuclear Security

  • Feb 3,2017 (DoS); seeks proposals for the following: 1) Insider Threat Mitigation 2) Nuclear Security Culture in Practice and 3)  Countering Violent Extremism in the Nuclear Sector

Focused Technology Research and Development

  • Feb 5, 2017 (NIH); This initiative will support projects that focus solely on development of technologies with the potential to enable biomedical research. Projects should be justified in terms of potential biomedical impact, but should not include any application to specific biomedical research questions. Applications should include preliminary data.

 Joint Technology Transfer Initiative

  • Feb 9, 2017 (DoC); solicits proposals to conduct research and development activities related to advancing the convective scale modeling and water prediction over the coming 1 to 2 years.
