Apply for Spring Break in Silicon Valley!

Spring Break in Silicon Valley (SBinSV) is designed to give students a first hand look at the companies, entrepreneurs, and venture capitalists, and their way of life (both personal and professional) in San Francisco and California’s Silicon Valley. This program is open to students from all majors, all SU schools and colleges, and all degree programs. Students typically visit between 20 and 25 companies over the course of the 5-day trip and have a chance to interact with alumni and do a bit of sightseeing along the way. The exact makeup of the trip visits varies from year to year, and depends on input from participating students.  View details and application information here.  The deadline to apply is 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, November 19. Contact Julie Walas Huynh at jlwalas@syr.edu with any questions.

Peer Office Hours

Success Tip of the Week

Work In Groups.

In many high schools, individual work is stressed, but this is not high school. Students who seek out study groups and connect with their peers over academic content have greater academic success and satisfaction during their four years.  You should find 3-6 people who you are acquainted with, but not necessarily best friends. It’s not that it is impossible to do effective studying with your best friend, but it is sometimes too tempting to discuss your day’s events or this weekend’s activities rather than focusing on the material at hand. Observe your classmates. Which students seem actively engaged, are taking detailed notes, and participate in class? These will likely be the most reliable, helpful people to include in your groupClick here for more tips on forming a good study group.
