Funding Opportunities

Software Infrastructure for Sustained Innovation (SSE, SSI, S2I2) (NSF)

  • Sept 19; SSI awards will focus on software architectures, processes that explicitly address issues of sustainability, manageability, usability, composability, and interoperability, as well as environments (e.g., code repository, build and test framework, reporting mechanisms, etc.) that are meaningful for the targeted science community.

Computer and Network Systems (CNS): Core Programs (NSF)

  • Sept 20; CNS supports two core programs 1) Computer Systems Research (CSR) and 2) Networking Technology and Systems (NeTS). In addition, CNS invites proposals that bridge the research areas of CSR and NeTS.

Information and Intelligent Systems (IIS): Core Programs (NSF)

  • Sept 27; accepts proposals in three tracks 1) The Cyber-Human Systems (CHS) program 2) The Information Integration and Informatics (III) program and 3) The Robust Intelligence (RI) program

Continuum, Compliant, and Configurable Soft Robotics Engineering (C3 SoRo) (NSF)

  • Sept 29 (LOI), Oct 25 (Preliminary Proposal), Feb 23, 2018 (Full Proposal); this research is expected to fill fundamental gaps in the understanding of soft robots characterized by continuum structures bearing loads with highly compliant materials or components.

Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Awards Program

  •  Feb 8; the program supports the research and teaching careers of talented young faculty in the chemical sciences. Contact Melissa Whipps if you are interested in applying for this award.

Ford Foundation Fellowship Programs

  • Dec 7 (Postdoctoral), Dec 14 (Predoctoral); the fellowship seeks to increase the diversity of the nation’s college and university faculties by increasing their ethnic and racial diversity, to maximize the educational benefits of diversity, and to increase the number of professors who can and will use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students.

Research Coordination Networks (RCN) (NSF)

  • No Deadline; The goal of the RCN program is to advance a field or create new directions in research or education by supporting groups of investigators to communicate and coordinate their research, training and educational activities across disciplinary, organizational, geographic and international boundaries. Participating programs in the Directorates for Biological Sciences (BIO), Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE, Engineering (ENG) will accept RCN proposals.
