For Faculty:

Community College Cyber Pilot Program (NSF, PD 18-1668)

  • (May 29 – webinar, Full Proposal Accepted Anytime, July 2) Cyberspace is a complex ecosystem that involves computer hardware, software, networks, data, people, and integration with the physical world. Society’s overwhelming reliance on this complex system has exposed fragility and vulnerabilities that defy existing cyber-defense measures. Corporations, agencies, national infrastructure, and individuals continue

ROSES 2018: Instrument Concepts for Europa Exploration (NASA)

  • (Jun 22) The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Science Mission Directorate (SMD) announces the release of its annual NASA Research Announcement (NRA), Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES) – 2018.to suffer cyber-attacks.

BRAIN Initiative: Exploratory Team-Research BRAIN Circuit Programs (NIH, U01)

  • ( LOI- June 23, Application due July 23) The purpose of this FOA is to promote the integration of experimental, analytic, and theoretical capabilities for large-scale analysis of neural systems and circuits.

NOVEL METHODS FOR MAKING PRODUCTS FROM CARBON DIOXIDE OR COAL (DOE)

  • (Jun 25) This FOA supports the goals of both the Carbon Use and Reuse, and the Coal Beneficiation programs. Both use similar platforms (i.e. catalysis and other chemical methods) to convert carbon dioxide (CO2) or coal to generate valuable products.

Computational Approaches to Curation at Scale for Biomedical Research Assets (NIH, R01)

  • (LOI Jul 15, Application due Aug 15) NLM wishes to accelerate the availability of and access to secure, complete data sets and computational models that can serve as the basis of transformative biomedical discoveries by improving the speed and scope of the curation processes. Applications may propose development of new computational methods, or extend existing open-source tools and pipelines in order to enhance automation, improve efficiency, quality and security, and control costs.

Great Lakes B-WET Program (Department of Commerce)

  • (Jul 27) The Great Lakes B-WET Program is a competitive grant program that supports existing, high quality environmental education programs, fosters the growth of new, innovative programs, and encourages capacity building and partnership development for environmental education programs throughout the entire Great Lakes watershed.

Integrated University Program: Enabling Technologies and Innovation

  • (Sept 4) The role of Institutions of Higher Education in nuclear security research and development is to innovate and develop some of the most challenging basic aspects of new technology and methods.

NIH Director’s New Innovator Award Program (NIH, DP2)

  • (Sept 10) The NIH Director’s New Innovator Award supports early stage investigators of exceptional creativity who propose highly innovative new research approaches with the potential to produce a major impact on broad, important problems in biomedical or behavioral research.

NIH Director’s Transformative Research Award (NIH, R01)

  • (Sept 21) The NIH Director’s Transformative Research Award supports individual scientists or groups of scientists proposing groundbreaking, exceptionally innovative, original, and/or unconventional research with the potential to create new scientific paradigms, establish entirely new and improved clinical approaches, or develop transformative technologies.
